Look AI, a new design tool developed by a China based technology firm, is using advanced algorithms to streamline the fashion design process and give designers real-time creative capabilities.
Fashion design traditionally requires hours of sketching, fabric selection and pattern adjustments before concepts can be fully realized. Look AI aims to simplify that process by using artificial intelligence to accelerate workflows and make professional design tools more accessible.
The platform’s core feature is its real-time rendering capability. Designers can sketch on an iPad using standard drawing software, and once connected to a computer, Look AI instantly transforms the sketches into detailed garment renderings. As designers outline contours and shapes, the system generates fabric textures, folds and structural details on screen, offering what the company describes as a “what you see is what you get” experience.
Look AI also includes a suite of supporting tools designed to reduce the need for multiple applications. Designers can upload photos of models wearing garments, and the system automatically isolates the clothing and generates flat patterns for further development. The tool can also convert photos into flat templates, apply prints, create textures from patterns and intelligently adjust colors—allowing a full concept to be completed in minutes.
The technology has already been showcased at industry events. During the XIN Summit’s Media Day in November, designers sketched live as Look AI generated completed renderings in real time. At last year’s China Lingerie Culture Week, the platform powered a “design-as-runway” presentation in which sketches were instantly turned into virtual runway animations projected onstage.
The company says Look AI is designed to support both independent designers and large brands. Smaller studios can use the tool to lower production costs and produce polished concepts earlier in the creative process, while major labels can accelerate prototyping and experiment with new styles.
As Look AI continues to refine its data models and algorithms, the company expects broader adoption across the fashion industry, positioning the platform as an optional digital tool for brands seeking to modernize parts of their design workflow.
