A Japanese company has developed an AI-powered pod designed to wash, clean and dry a person in about 15 minutes, offering an automated, spa-like bathing experience. The Mirai Ningen Sentakuki, or “Future Human Washing Machine,” made its official debut at the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo.
The futuristic device uses high-speed water jets and micro-bubbles to remove dirt without harsh chemicals. Artificial intelligence adjusts the cleaning and drying process based on user preferences and biometric data, while sensors monitor vital signs and tailor features such as water temperature and visual displays.
The transparent pod includes built-in speakers and projected nature imagery to create a calming environment. The system is designed to reduce water consumption by filtering and recycling used water.
A consumer version is under development, with potential benefits for people with mobility challenges, including elderly and disabled individuals. The project reflects ongoing innovation in Japan’s robotics and wellness technology sectors, where automation continues to merge with personalized healthcare and relaxation.
